Annual Events
Each year the Preschool community can look forward to some very special annual events:
September
North Douglas Preschool Annual Reunion and Open House
The Preschool 'Open House and Reunion' is held the second Saturday in September in conjunction with the church's 'Fall Fair'. New
and former preschool families are welcome to tour the preschool and visit with all of our staff. In addition there are inflatable bouncie games suitable for children of all ages, live music, an outdoor art centre, trike rodeo, fish pond, face-painting, helium balloons, craft and quilt displays and more! Visit the BBQ for free hotdogs, hamburgers, veggie-burgers and beverages. It's a memorable way to spend a beautiful fall afternoon!
October
18th Annual '31 KidsStreet...
Around the World'
A fun-filled children's carnival held every October 31st from 6-8pm. The gym is filled with carnival-like game booths, each representing a different country from around the world ie. Aussie Boomerang Toss; European Cake-Walk; Indian Cobra Crawl, etc. Children are issued a 'passport' at the door which is stamped as they visit each 'country'. Candy prizes are awarded for every game played and a completed passport = one free trip to the prize box. Hungry 'travellers' ( and family-members!) are welcome to enjoy hotdogs, snacks and beverages in the 'rest area'. It's a safe and free Hallowe'en alternative enjoyed by kids of all ages.
December
Children's Christmas Concert
Children and youth from all of North Doug's various programs come together to perform a variety of seasonal skits, poems and songs followed by a very special time of fellowship (hot chocolate and Christmas goodies!) in the gym.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Every Christmas Eve a special service including traditional carol-singing and the story of Christ's birth is held in the sanctuary. Brilliant with candles and fragrant with greenery this particularly beautiful hour-long service has become a well-loved family tradition for many. From 6-7pm every December 24th.
